Maharaja Suhel Dev State University (MSDSU) Azamgarh was established by the Uttar Pradesh Government vide its Gazette Notification No. 1446/79-V-1-19-1(K)-3-19, Lucknow, dated 5 August 2019. Vide the State Government Notification No. 610/Sattar-1-2021-16(74)/2018 T.C., Lucknow, Dated 28 April 2021.

वर्तमान समय में यह यूनिवर्सिटी अभी बन रही है लेकिन इसका कार्यभार DAV PG COLLEGE AZAMGARH से संचालित किया जा रहा है जिसका लोकेशन रैदोपुर आजमगढ़ उत्तर प्रदेश 276001 में स्थित है।

Azamgarh is a culturally rich historical city, having headquarters of Azamgarh Commissionerate and the district, which is located about 260 km east of the state capital, Lucknow of Uttar Pradesh.

Azamgarh city is well connected with three main surface Highways,

1. Purvanchal Expressway between Lucknow and Ballia, (260 km)
2. National Highway-24 between Gorakhpur (106 km) and Varanasi (95 km) route and
3. The State Highway-34 between Azamgarh and Ballia (115 km).

Politically, Azamgarh is surrounded by the boundaries of six districts,

1. Mau in the East,
2. Gorakhpur in the North,
3. Jaunpur in the South-West,
4. Ghazipur in the South-East,
5. Ambedkar Nagar in the North-East and
6. Sultanpur in the West.

The nearest airportsare Varanasi (95 km) and Lucknow (260 km) to which a to- and fro- good number of flights are available from Delhi, Bangalore, Kolkata, Jaipur, Hyderabad and Chennai.

The trains which pass through or bound to Azamgarh are

1. Kaifiyaat Express(12225),
2. Ajmer Garib Nawaz Express (15715), and
3. Anand Vihar Terminal Express(15025).

The national airport has also been constructed at Azamgarh, where the flights operation is yet to start.Thus, Maharaja Suhel Dev State University, Azamgarh has an excellent approach through roads, trains and flights.
